BTC moving to an account number system
From July, BTC customers will use their service account number when paying their bills online or at any of the island’s ATMs. This change came into effect with the launch of BTCs new billing system last month.
“Previously customers would have used their phone number to identify their services when they were paying their bills online or at the ATMs. With our new system, we will be moving to a more efficient account number-based format,” explained BTC President & CEO, Francis Mussenden. .
Each customer will be assigned a unique eight-digit account number which will be tied to all of their services with BTC. Customers should also quote their account number when calling the BTC Contact Centre or Business Sales Department.
Mr. Mussenden explained, “The account number will make is easier for us to track and manage our customers’ accounts and service information. This will mean quicker resolution of customer queries and requests. So if you have multiple services with BTC, you no longer need to remember each number, all you need is your account number.”
When customers receive their new bill this month, they will find their account number at the top right of the bill. The local banks have been informed of the change and will only be processing online and ATM payments quoting this number. Customers will also need to use this number to register for the new My Account online service.
For more information about the account number system, customers should call the BTC Contact Centre on 295-1001 or visit the BTC website at www.btc.bm.
