Step 1:
PREPARE YOUR HOUSE OR OFFICE

Install a filter on each phone and fax as shown

You must ensure that a filter is attached to all telephones in your home or office. Since DSL operates on two different channels, i.e. voice and data, the purpose of the filter is to ensure that the data channel frequencies do not interfere with the voice channel frequencies.

If you have a second phone line you do not have to install filters on the second phone number, as filters are only needed on the phone number that is used for DSL.

Step 2:
CONNECT YOUR MODEM

Connect the DSL modem to your computer as shown

Plug the "Y" adapter into the phone outlet. Plug the filter into one side of the "Y" adapter and the DSL modem into the other side. Run a telephone cable from the filter to your telephone. Run another phone cable from the "Y" adapter to the DSL modem.

Ensure that you have an Ethernet Card installed in your computer. Plug the DSL modem into the Ethernet Card at the back of your computer.

Once you have completed the steps above, power up the modem. The lights should turn green in a few minutes.

Step 3:
SET UP YOUR DSL CONNECTION

If you are using Windows XP go to START – Control Panel – Network Connections – Create New Connection. You will enter your Internet Service Provider (ISP) account and password here.

If you are using an operating system other than Windows XP you will need to obtain Client Software called PPPOE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) in order to connect to the Internet. Your ISP will have this software.
